We won’t lie, there’s a bit of a learning curve when it comes to perfecting eyeliner. The proper tools, steady hand, and perfect flick aren’t necessarily intuitive, especially for a makeup novice. But once you’ve honed your skill, the great big world of graphic liner is yours for the taking.

Bright colors, unique swirls and shapes, and countless ways to show off your creativity, graphic liner is the ultimate personal touch to a makeup routine. And with such a broad definition, nearly anyone can achieve a graphic liner look with enough determination and practice.

In 2024, we’re embracing our uniqueness and having some fun with our makeup. Scroll on for 9 graphic eyeliner looks we’ll be repeating all year long.

Touch of Blue

For a literal take on winter blues, add a pop of the frosty hue between the crease and below the brow, following the eye’s natural shape and flicking out at the ends. For ultra-precise lining, you’ll need a detail liner brush, like this one from about-face ($5). Pro tip: Add a bit of water to some blue eyeshadow to make a paste-like consistency that doubles as the perfect liner.

Double Cat Eye

We’re living for this graphic moment. To recreate, extend a classic wing out to the tip of the brow and in past the inner corner of the eye. Then, line the waterline and lower lash line in white, before adding a shadow below the inner and outer wings. Mirror that top black line along the lower lash line, add some falsies, and voila! An epic double liner look!

Deep Orange Disco

Orange and purple may not be the first color pairing you think of, but celebrity makeup artist Katie Jane Hughes proves it’s seriously chic. Opt for a more rustic, deeper orange, like the Glossier No. 1 Pencil Creamy Eyeliner in Kiln ($16), and pair with muted rosy lips and cheeks so the eyes can really shine.

Pretty in Purple

This purple color-blocking look is sure to brighten up even the gloomiest of days. Unfortunately the palette makeup artist Jaleesa Jaikaran used for this stunning look is no longer available, the Violet Voss Take Flight Eyeshadow Palette ($48) is a great dupe for the two hues.

Triple Lined

How does that Lady Gaga quote go? “Talented, brillant, incredible, amazing, show stopping…” That’s exactly how we feel about this ridiculously chic tripe liner look. The subtle pop of silver and ultra glossy skin is just the cherry on top.

Free-Form Cut Crease

If straight lines aren’t your thing, embrace that shaky hand with a free-form halo cut crease moment. To recreate, you’ll need some brightly hued liquid liners—may we suggest the ColourPop BFF Liquid Liner ($9)? We love the cobalt blue, hot pink, and yellow shades, but to each their own.

Fire Wings

Between the smoldering gold eye and the pops of electric orange, this eye is downright mesmerizing. And we’re loving the subtle shimmer in the brow for an extra glow.

Navy’s a Neutral

For a twist on your classic winged liner, swap out your usual black for a navy blue. It’s neutral enough that it works for everyday life but feels elevated and unexpected. To recreate, opt for a waterproof matte blue liner, like the Make Up Forever Aqua Resist Color Ink 24H Liquid Eyeliner in Matte Midnight ($26).

Crease Halo

If you’re looking for a unique graphic liner look that’s beginner-friendly, this crease halo is an absolute no brainer. Simply follow the natural curve of your crease—just be sure to place the liner high enough that it won’t become obscured when you open your eyes.
