How I’m Prioritizing Health and Wellness This Summer With Vuori

How I’m Prioritizing Health and Wellness This Summer With Vuori

I’ve been really bad about prioritizing my health and wellness in recent months, and it’s showing in various ways. It’s time to take back the wheel and get this ship back on its course!

Now that the weather has finally warmed up, I can get back to enjoying outdoor activities, and I’m trying to make the most of it.

I still do strength training workouts twice a week, but I’ve pretty much given up on getting back to running. It may happen someday, but for now, I try to take a lot of walks, and extend them whenever I can.

Sometimes I take more than one a day. And instead of meeting friends for coffee, I usually suggest a walk instead. It’s a great way to catch up and stay active at the same time.

I’m trying to be more intentional about standing up and stepping away from my desk at regular intervals. I found my smartwatch and charged it up so I can monitor my steps and sitting/standing activity.

I love that I can connect it to my earbuds and play my favorite music or podcasts when I’m out walking or puttering around the house, so I’m not always holding my phone.

I’m also learning new ways to manage my stress, like deep breathing exercises and mindful eating. But getting outside and staying active is by far and away the best form of stress relief, and it’s supposed to be a hot summer, so I wanted to find some new workout shorts.

No one does quality, stylish performance apparel like Vuori, so I tried a bunch of their shorts, and of course I’ll break them down for you!

The Cardiff Short is made of partly recycled materials along with moisture-wicking and anti-odor tech, for those hot and humid summer workouts.

1 Mudra Fitted Tee (M) // Vuori Cardiff Short (M)

They’re a high-waisted style, with an extra wide waistband that’s very comfortable and not binding at all, even though that’s where most other workout shorts tend to aggravate me.

I also love the contrasting trim and scalloped leg opening, along with the embroidered logo near the hem.

As far as sizing goes, I’m wearing the Medium in these, but I’d be curious to try the Small. These seem a little loose, but I don’t think they’re so loose that they look bad, and having a little extra wiggle room is nice.

On top, I’m wearing the Mudra Fitted Tee in a size Medium. The stretch rib knit is soft and comfortable, and it has a short but not quite cropped length that works well with these high waisted shorts.

The Clementine Short is Vuori’s best-selling women’s athletic shorts. They’re a similar style to the Cardiff Short, but they have a shorter inseam and a built-in bikini-brief mesh liner, which is perfect for high impact activities in the hottest weather.

They’re made of an ultra-lightweight 4-way stretch fabric, and they have a 2.5″ inseam and a comfortable wide elastic waistband with drawcord. The front stash pocket is perfect for holding your key or a few dollars.

On top, I’m wearing the Vuori Halo Essential Tank in a size Large. I have the Sawyer Heather color in Medium, and it was still a little tight for my personal comfort level, so this time I ordered the Large, and I love it. This top and shorts is the perfect pairing for exercising outside on the hottest days.

The Halo Boxy Short is my favorite for leisure and lounging. These high-waisted workout shorts are made of Vuori’s buttery DreamKnit™ premium stretch fabric, just like the iconic Performance Joggers and Essential Hoodie.

In this case, I’m wearing the size Small, and they’re plenty roomy, so I recommend sizing down in these if you tend to run in between sizes.

The Halo Performance Short is a similar style, but with a 2.25″ inseam rather than the 3.5″ in the Halo Boxy Short. I’ve been wearing these a lot lately on my daily walks, and I have these in the Medium.

I’m also loving the Sunset Easy Tee! I don’t know if this is a new product, or if I just didn’t see it before, but ideal when you want the benefits of performance apparel in a t-shirt that looks more like streetwear.

This pima slub cotton tee has a boxy fit with a nice drape, and I love how it’s finished with cuffed dolman sleeves. It comes in four color options, and it runs true to size; I have the Small.

If you like more of a legging style, the Studio Pocket Short has a super smooth airbrush finish and a modest 5″ inseam. These shorts are designed to bend, twist, and stretch through anything your yoga instructor can throw at you.

I also appreciate the comfortable high rise and the hidden interior stash pocket at the waist (perfect for a key or credit card) as well as one on each side. I was pleasantly surprised to find the ones on the sides fit a smartphone.

If you don’t care for pockets on your shorts, the Clean Elevation Shorty is made from a super soft performance stretch knit, and it has a 6″ inseam and no side seams for a sleek fit. I don’t have a picture of those, but I wear them often for gym workouts.

On top, I’m wearing my white Energy Top, which I’ve had for a year or so. I wear this all year ’round for gym workouts, but it gets even more use during the summer when I’m out walking a couple times a day. I love that I can get some sun on my shoulders, while protecting my chest, where I tend to burn easily.

That’s a lot of information, I know, but I hope it’s helpful if you’re refreshing your summer performance apparel!

I would be hard-pressed to pick a favorite pair of Vuori shorts. They all serve different purposes and have different benefits, but they are all going right into my closet to keep me moving this season.
