Early Spring 2024 Try-On Haul

Early Spring 2024 Try-On Haul

Good morning! I have a new try-on haul for you today, with some transition styles and early spring clothing items you may want to consider adding to your closet.

1

I’ve been getting a bunch of new orders in lately, mostly from Nordstrom, LOFT, Gap Factory, and Evereve.

Some of it I’m going to save for my Florida trip, and some of it went straight back, but I sorted through my pictures and came up with a selection of favorites I want to share with you. Even though they didn’t all work for me, I think some of you will like them.

Transitional Tops, Denim Jackets, Wide Leg Pants & More

Evereve Chelsea Tape Half Zip Sweatshirt

at Evereve (S) // MOTHER Weekender (29) // P448 John Sneakers (29)

1

This pullover is one of my favorite finds from this roundup. I love the half-zip neckline because you can create whatever depth v-neck look you want, or layer it over a crewneck, as shown on the website.

It’s super soft inside, and the navy blue is such a nice color for spring and summer, but it’s the pop of color around the zipper that makes it a keeper for me! I love little touches like that.

1 1

VERDICT: This is my usual size small, and I think it fits fine, but I ordered the medium to compare. I might want a little extra wiggle room for potential shrinkage because I like to throw my sweatshirts in the dryer. I’ll definitely be keeping one of them.

Frame Pixie Le Slim Palazzo Wide Leg Jeans

at Nordstrom (29) // Evereve pullover (S) // P448 Monza (39)

1

You may recall that I tried on the full-length style of these jeans in my last Try-On Haul, and they were too long.

I love the released hem and how they’re cut close to the thigh, and they’re very soft and comfortable, so I was happy to see them in this shorter version!

1 1

I think I like this length, although I’m not sure I’m crazy about them with sneakers, which is a shame because I’d like to find a comfortable wide leg style to wear with flats. I feel like they need to be a smidge shorter, or longer, to work well with these sneakers.

1

I don’t know why I didn’t try them with flat sandals, but they look great with these chunky heels.

1

LOFT Ruffle Blouse (S) // Dolce Vita Clarissa (8) // FRAME Pixie Le Slim Palazzo (29)

They also look great with my Kork-Ease clogs, but so do a lot of my longer jeans. I was hoping to find a wide leg to wear with sneakers.

1

VERDICT: I’m holding onto these for now. I do really like them with the chunky sandals and clogs.

Stateside Softest Fleece Hoodie

at Evereve (S) // KUT Meg with cuff (6) // Birks (39)

1

I always love a white beachy hoodie, and I thought this would be this year’s version, but it feel a little short for me. I just don’t feel like it’s all that special, and something about the way it’s cut at the neckline seems weird. I do like the vibe of this outfit, though.

1

VERDICT: I returned this one. Even though I like it, I don’t like it *that* much.

KUT from the Kloth Meg Wide Leg

at Evereve (6) // Evereve Everperfect tee (S) // P448 John sneakers (39)

1 1

Okay, I know some of you will hate these jeans, but I think they’re kind of fun. And while they could be shorter, I don’t think they need to be.

I don’t love them with the stripe top, though. Altogether, it looks very junior to me, so I swapped it out for a top that is more my vibe. I figure if the jeans are outside of my comfort zone, I should pair them with a top that aligns better with my personal style.

This black smocked tank is definitely me! I always have one or two black tops like this that wear on repeat all spring and summer – with everything from shorts and flip flops by the pool, to white jeans and wedge sandals for date night, and everything in between.

1

I feel like the sneakers look off with the black tank, so I switched to these new Birks… and now I love this look.

This is how I like to incorporate a trendy piece into an outfit that looks and feels like me.

1 1

I also like it with those Vince Camuto slingbacks, for more of a casual date night look.

1

VERDICT: The only caveat I have to make about these jeans is that I wish the rise was higher. These days, I prefer an 11″ rise, but that’s going to get harder to find, as mid-rises are starting to come back in. I’m sure a lot of you are happy about that!

I guess I’ll just have to wear them with relaxed tops because I love the look, as well as the price point.

Vince Camuto Clarissa Slingback Sandals (size 8)

at Nordstrom // at Macy’s // at Bloomies (earn Power Points!)

1

I took a close-up shot of these sandals to show you the details, although I wish I’d taken the picture with shorter pants.

I love these so much that I just ordered them in the taupe suede, to have as well. They are super comfortable, easy to walk in, and they look great with dresses or jeans. They run true to size.

Evereve Ever Perfect Tee

at Evereve (S) // KUT Meg with cuff (6) // P448 John sneakers (39)

1

I thought this tee was so cute on the website, but when I put it on, it just didn’t feel authentic to my style at all. All I see is Where’s Waldo?

For experimentation purposes, here it is with a little side tuck… it looks marginally better, but I still feel silly. I definitely like the black tank better with these jeans.

1

Here’s that same top with denim shorts… I should have done the side tuck, but still a no.

1

VERDICT: Returning. It’s cute, but I know I’ll never reach for it.

Evereve Mika Smocked Tank

at Evereve (S) // KUT Meg with cuff (6) // P448 John sneakers (39)

1

So back to this black tank… I love the deep v-neckline and smocking at the shoulders; it’s those little details that make all the difference. If you click through to the Evereve website, you can see the details better on the Adobe Rose color.

It’s 23″ long, and it can be front-tucked or left untucked. The fit is fine, but I ordered the medium to compare because it I think I might like a little more a drape. Plus, it might shrink. The fabric is 68% Polyester, 27% Rayon, 5% Spandex Knit.

1 1

VERDICT: Definitely keeping this; it’s just a matter of the small vs. the medium.

Letluv Grateful Dead Watercolor Tour Tee

at Evereve (S) // FRAME jeans (29) // Kork-Ease clogs (8)

1

I am not a “Dead Head” by any stretch of the imagination… but, I really enjoy some of their music, and I love how this graphic tee has a bit of a feminine flair to it.

Unfortunately, it’s too small. It really needs to be a little more slouchy to get the right look, so I sent it back. I’m also not sure how much I’d actually wear it, so I haven’t re-ordered yet… but I probably should.

KUT from the Kloth Jane Shorts

at Nordstrom (6) // Grateful Dead Tee (S) // P448 John sneakers (39)

1

I loved my KUT from the Kloth Porkchop Shorts last year, which were a variation on the Jane, so I was hoping I’d like this more classic style, but they do a really funny flare thing at the leg opening, which I don’t care for. They also seem to flatten out the rear.

My hips are quite wide in relation to my thin legs, and the last thing I need my shorts to do is flare out in the leg.

I wanted to like these because the price is right, they’re a nice wash, and the rear pocket placement is good, but I just don’t love how they look. Also, I’m wearing the 6 here, and they’re pretty snug. The 8 was way too big, tho.

1 1

VERDICT: I feel like they look better in pictures than they do in person, so when I was writing this post, I went back upstairs and tried them both on again, but I still don’t care for them. I have shorts from last year I can wear, so I sent both of these back.

Sanctuary Renegade Short in Hybrid Twill

at Nordstrom (28) // at Evereve (28) // ATM tee (M) (25% off at Bloomies) // Birk Madrid (39)

1

I have these shorts in black from a couple years ago, and I wore them quite a bit, so when I saw them at Evereve again this year, I ordered the olive.

They have a flat front waist with a button and zip closure and elastic in the back for extra comfort. Such a smart design!

I’m happy to report, they’re just as good now as they were then! Maybe more so, because I’m a little fluffier in the midsection than I was then, and they’re still very comfortable, thanks to that elastic panel in the back.

1 1

VERDICT: Keeping! I tried the 28 and 29, and I’m keeping the 28, so they run verrrrrry big. I am not a 28 in much of anything right now.

ATM Schoolboy V-Neck Tee

25% off at Bloomingdale’s (M)

1

I’m throwing this random picture in here because I just noticed this ATM tee is on sale. It’s one of my all-time favorites.

Yes, it’s splurgy, but I love the slub knit and the shape of the v-neck, and it’s the perfect length. Highly recommend!

Madewell 90s Straight Canvas Cargo Jeans

at Nordstrom (28) // Frame tee (XS) // Marc Fisher Ubet flats (8)

1

Just when I said I never wear a 28 in anything… these pants run really big, as well.

I’ve been getting some requests for khaki recommendations, so I ordered these to try. I like the subtle utility details, and the color is a really nice shade of beige. They have a fairly classic straight fit, with a bit of a lived-in look and feel.

They have a 30″ inseam with a 16″ leg opening, and a 12″ front rise; and they’re very comfortable.

1 1

Here’s how they look with clogs, and I threw a denim jacket on top to make a more complete outfit.

1

VERDICT: I’m debating about keeping these, but I’ll definitely try to experiment with more ways to style them.

Evereve Sabrina Denim Jacket

at Evereve (S) // Frame tee (XS) // Madewell 90’s straight canvas jeans (28) // Kork-Ease clogs (8)

1

I’ve mentioned that the fitted denim trucker jackets that I wore for many years are looking tired to me this season. I’m noticing a lot more relaxed styles, both in shorter and longer lengths, and I ordered a few to try.

I wanted to love this one because it still has some structure through the waist, but the way it’s cut longer in the front, and the large patch pockets give it an updated look.

I was thrilled to find that it’s really soft and stretchy and comfortable to wear, but what on earth is going on with that wash!?!

1 1

It also has these weird little distressed patches, and the combination of that and the weird fading makes it look really cheap, in my opinion. It’s a shame.

1

VERDICT: As much as I like the idea of this jacket, I just couldn’t look past my issues with the wash.

Icon Denim Jacket

40% off at Gap (S) // Frame tee (XS) // Madewell 90s jeans (28) // Marc Fisher flats (8)

1

Now, this one from Gap is more of the typical style I’m seeing out there that looks current to me, but not too dramatic that I feel silly wearing it.

It’s not as soft and stretchy as the Evereve jacket, but it’s still comfortable because of the oversized fit.

I really like the wash, too. It’s just a nice medium indigo denim without a lot of crazy distressing or fading.

1 1

VERDICT: Definitely keeping this one! It’s also 40% off right now.

AG Chiro Denim Jacket in Catskills

at Evereve (S) // 30% off at AG Jeans (S) // Frame tee (XS) // Madewell 90s jeans (28) // Kork-Ease clogs (8)

1

And now, for a more splurge-worthy option, I didn’t want to like this AG jacket because the price point seems ridonkulous, but now that I’ve tried it, I don’t think I can part with it.

I love the nod to the safari jacket. It just has a really fresh appeal and a more current take on the denim jacket. Since I wear denim jackets so much in spring and summer, I feel like the cost per wear might work out over time.

1 1

When I was googling to see if It is carried at any of the department stores, I found the Nolita wash is 30% off at agjeans.com. It’s just a little bit darker, no reason why it wouldn’t look just as good as this one.

1

Here’s another styling option, with olive wide leg jeans and chunky sandals. I also cuffed the sleeves to give it a little more style.

1

VERDICT: I do believe I’m keeping this. I feel like it looks more refined than the Gap Icon, even though that one may come in handy for casual looks. This is one I can wear to church or out to dinner with white denim or the pants shown above, when I want a more elevated look.

Kut from the Kloth Meg Wide Leg in Olive

at Evereve (6) // Treasure & Bond V-Neck sweater (S) // Sam Edelman sandals (8)

1

These are a really nice option, if you’re looking for wide leg pants that aren’t jeans. They’re comfortable, and I like the flap pockets in the back and the utility pockets on the front.

They’re cut a little closer to the hips and thighs than some wide leg styles, which I find more flattering on me personally.

1 1

Here’s how they look with those Vince Camuto Clarissa Slingbacks… even better than with flats, but I feel like I can get away with wearing them with flats when I want to.

1

VERDICT: Keeping, for sure! Love these, and the price is right too. They’re TTS for KUT from the Kloth; I size down from my usual size 29/8.

Evereve Wendy Striped Blouse

at Evereve // KUT Meg // Vince Camuto Clarissa Slingbacks

1

This top is really cute, and a nice departure from a t-shirt. I’m going to keep it and try some other styling options.

Evereve Peyton Dress

at Evereve (S) // Sam Edelman sandals (8)

1

I thought this could be a cute, casual dress for spring and summer, but it is sooo short.

1 1

VERDICT: Returning.

Sundry Stripe Dress

at Evereve (M) // Sam Edelman sandals (8)

1 1

And I had high hopes for this little number. I sized up to a Medium, knowing it woudl be snug, but wow, still very snug.

I tried styling it with the denim jacket around the waist, just for the pictures, but I will never understand how people make this look chic.

1

VERDICT: Returning; it’s just too short and tight. I can’t imagine what the size small would look like.

High Rise 90s Straight Leg Jeans

at Gap Factory (29) // Gap Factory sweater (S) // ballet flats (8)

1

I ordered these jeans from Gap Factory, for consideration for yesterday’s sponsored post, but I decided not to feature them because something about them just looks off to me.

1 1

They have a traditional straight leg fit, with a 30.5″ inseam and a high rise and a slim fit through the hips and thighs.

I don’t know if it’s the cut, or those seaming details, which look really busy to me, but these are a no bueno. I just thought I’d share, in case someone else likes them.

1

VERDICT: These went straight back!
