Hi, friends! I’ve got a new fall fashion try-on haul for you today, with styles from LOFT, Gap Factory, Nordstrom, Saks, Evereve and more! I found a bunch of good jackets, some tops, jeans and cords, as well as a few pairs of shoes I want to feature.
As usual, I will provide measurements and fabric content on each item when I can find it, and I’ll share whether I plan to keep it or not. Just remember, even when I decide not to keep something, it doesn’t mean it isn’t worth checking out. I just may not need it, or it may not work for my body type or lifestyle.
Fall Jackets, Jeans & Tops
SIZING NOTES: I’m 5’5″ and I usually wear a small or medium in tops and dresses, a 29 in jeans and pants, and a size 8 shoe. Gifted items are indicated by c/o; everything else I purchased myself.
Barbour Clydebank Quilted Jacket

I love this update to the quintessential quilted fall jacket. It has Burberry vibes, but at a much more palatable price point, and Barbour is an iconic brand in its own right. It’s such a nice shade of green, which of course is having a moment this season, and the chocolate brown corduroy collar and trim bring in another trending color that is also classic to fall.
Here’s how it looks buttoned-up. Or snapped, rather. It has deep pockets and an easy fit, and it runs a bit large. I was able to get away with a size 6, even though I’m usually an 8 these days.
VERDICT: I’m keeping this one. I think I’ll get a lot of use out of it, and I like having a variety of coats and jackets to rotate to keep my outfits interesting.

Wool & Cashmere Knit Hoodie

I’ve long been a fan of a cashmere hoodie. There’s something about the luxe, yet sporty vibe that appeals to me. It adds a subtle element of juxtaposition to an outfit, and it’s practical and comfortable for my casual lifestyle.
This one has a relaxed fit and a ribbed texture, and it comes in black, grey, and camel. They’re all such good neutrals, I’m tempted to get one in every color! I love how they styled the camel with a camel wool coat, and the black with the white crewneck tee poking out from the neckline.
Here’s how it looks with the Gap Factory ColdControl Puffer Jacket in burgundy pinot noir. I mean, I like this coat for the name alone! But it’s also a really nice, affordable jacket, and I love how the burgundy brings another color to my coat collection.
I also styled this grey cashmere hoodie under a black quilted vest, which is always a good combo.
VERDICT: Keeping this grey, and I may end up with another color, especially if they go on sale. This sweater runs big and it has a rather generous fit; definitely size down, if in between.
Evereve Cooper Quilted Vest

I realized a few weeks ago that I didn’t save any quilted vests from last year, and I always like to have one or two in my fall wardrobe, so I ordered this one from Evereve. It has a nice classic design and an easy fit.
It runs a tad small, but I think I’m okay with this size small. If I snap it, it buckles a bit in the back, but I’d probably never snap it, and the small feels comfortable over this sweater. All that to say, if in doubt, you may want to size up.
VERDICT: Keeping, love it!

As I said above, this is a great option for a classic, affordable puffer jacket, and I love how the burgundy brings another color to my coat collection. It also comes in black, ivory, and light brown; and it runs small. I’m wearing the medium, and I need every bit of it.
VERDICT: Keeping, I like the sporty vibe, and this is a color I don’t have in my coat collection.

This coat makes such a great statement, and it comes in TONS of colors! I ordered this one from Evereve, where it’s selling out, but happily, I found it fully stocked at Nordstrom and on the Free People website. I like this muted shade of red quite a lot, and the square quilted pattern is fun for a change.
It has more of an oversized fit than the Gap Factory puffer, and a lot of fun details, which are reflected in the price point. I also love that it folds up and fits into its own pocket, although I didn’t try that.
VERDICT: I’m so tempted to keep this, but it’s pricey, and I’m accumulating a lot of casual jackets. I need to make sure I can wear them all before I make a final decision on this one.
KUT from the Kloth Enly Plaid Bomber

This is more of an outfit completer jacket, one that I will keep on indoors unless I get overheated. I had a similar style last year, and I wore it a lot, so I thought this might be a fun one to add to my closet this fall, especially while brown is trending so hard.
I love the bomber jacket styling, but it’s verrry short, and I already sized up to a medium. I could almost use a large, so definitely size up, if ordering!
I also tried it with ivory Faherty ribbed henley for a more casual vibe, and I like it a lot. This would also be cute with sneakers.
VERDICT: I really like this jacket, but I wish it were a smidge longer. In looking at these pictures, I realize I need to try it with some of my other jeans, preferably something with a higher rise. It might work well with wide leg styles.
Lucky Brand Slouchy Cable Crop Cardigan

This sweater is really soft and pretty. I was drawn to this rich shade of brown and the easy, relaxed fit. I love the way it fits the models in the photos, but it doesn’t quite have the same panache on me. It definitely runs large, so keep that in mind, if ordering.
VERDICT: I decided to return this; I have a lot of sweaters, and I just don’t love it on me.
Michael Stars Tati Ultra Rib Top in Black

Yes, I know summer is over, but this top caught my eye because it’s hard to find v-neck tops these days! And when I ordered it, it was still quite warm here, and I like short sleeve tops for layering under my many jackets.
It’s the Michael Stars brand, which is always a nice quality, and I love the strong shoulders and semi-relaxed fit. I’m wearing the medium, and I like how it isn’t too clingy.
Here’s how it looks with the green KUT from the Kloth Amanda utility jacket. I like this combo a lot! The open neckline is flattering, and the black and dark green are a nice combo.
VERDICT: Keeping this one.
Michael Stars Tati Ultra Rib Top in Ultra Violet

I also ordered this top in the pink, which is such a pretty color, but it definitely looks more summery. This is the size small, which is probably the right size, but I don’t love how it clings to the lumps and bumps.
It occurred to me that those MOTHER Weekenders (wearing above) only have a 10″ rise, so I decided to try it with the FRAME Le Slim Palazzo in Claudius, which have closer to an 11″ rise, which brings them up closer to my natural waist. Changing the rise definitely helps, and this is a good lesson to keep in mind.
VERDICT: I think I’ll return this top; I love it, but I don’t like to buy ahead for the next season unless I’m getting a really good sale price. There are always more tops!

I’ve been wanting to find some alternatives to all of my blue jeans, and black jeans are always a staple in my closet, but right now I only have a slim straight leg style and one pair of super black trouser jeans which seem quite dressy.
I love how this slim wide leg style is fitted in the hip with a subtle wide-leg flare that hits at the floor, and the super-stretch cotton blend is super soft and comfortable to wear all day. I managed to snag them on sale a few weeks ago, which helps offset the hefty price tag.
I pulled out my Rails Geneva Cardigan from last year (which is also part of the Saks GC Event) because I like how it looks with black bottoms, but I’m not sure the boxy silhouette is great with the wide leg jeans. It’s a lot of volume.
So, I went back into my closet and pulled out this blue Vince Shaker Stitch V-Neck Sweater from the #NSale that I haven’t worn yet. I love it, but I haven’t been able to find an ideal pant pairing, which seems silly since this is a simple, classic silhouette. I think it will look nice with flares, but it’s a little long and too relaxed through the waist with these jeans.
So then, I went back into my closet again, and this time I pulled out that Vince crewneck sweater that I purchased to wear as a base layer with jackets this winter. To that, I added the Rails Easton wool jacket, which has a boxy, cropped silhouette that tends to work well with wide leg jeans.
I think I like this combo, and I almost wore it to meet a friend for lunch earlier this week, but it looks quite wintry, with the dark color palette and the wool jacket on top of a cashmere sweater.
I decided I should use this time to wear my lighter weight jackets that I will have to put away when it gets colder, but I’ll keep this outfit in mind for future. I think with some chunky gold or silver jewelry, it will be a nice look.
I do really like the washed black denim with shades of green, so yesterday I wore these jeans with a green cowl neck top.
VERDICT: I decided to keep these jeans. I think they’re going to be a nice addition to my fall/winter wardrobe.

I’ve been wanting to add some corduroys to my closet this fall, and these have the perfect flare silhouette. They’re also very stretchy and comfortable. I like this black a lot, and they also come in brown. Plus, the price point is fantastic.
VERDICT: Definitely keeping these.

This is a nice, soft, lightweight sweater that comes in a bunch of solid and stripe color ways. I love this burgundy stripe, but I wish it was a little shorter.
VERDICT: I don’t know that I’ll keep this one, but it’s a good choice for those who want longer sweater options.

I love this oversized, cozy sherpa coat in the pretty teddy bear brown. It’s so cozy and cute, and adds a fun, festive flare to a casual outfit. Plus, it’s a great price.

I think this sweater is so cute with the color blocking, and I love the unexpected combination of colors. I styled it here over a white crewneck tee with straight ankle jeans and leopard flats, but there’s a lot going on. I think I like it better with these dark wash jeans and cognac boots.
VERDICT: I think I’ll keep this sweater. It’s fun and different, and easy to throw on and go.

I feel like the description above just about sums this up. It’s a really cute top for dressier fall events. I like the combination of the autumnal hues and the hints of metallic.
VERDICT: This is rather busy for my personal style, but I think it’s a nice option if you like it.

Running low on time, bypassing the details. This wedge sweater is really cute, but I feel like it’s too late in the year to add another short sleeve sweater to my closet. If you live down south, this is a great option.

I keep trying to like Mary Janes, but they just feel too sweet for my perosnal style. I can do ballet flats just fine, but these, I’m not sure about. They are verrrrry comfortable, though.
Dolce Vita Reyes (Dark Leopard Suede)

Likewise, these are cute and comfortable, but not sure they work for my personal style. And between the two, I prefer the fit of the Madewell pair above. They’re just really hard to find in the good colors. (I wanted the chocolate raisin. )
