Attention New York City, Anna Delvey is out on the town. She’s a free bird, kind of. She’s been legally allowed to roam free in New York City, per a court order, Page Six reported. Not only that, but she’s officially a legal and fully accredited productive member of society—she’s a working girl! And just in time for New York Fashion Week.
Delvey, born in the USSR as Anna Sorokin, first entered the public eye when she was the star of an article in New York Magazine for a fraud scandal she committed against banks, investors, friends, in efforts to fund a social club. The story eventually got adapted into a limited series, Inventing Anna, starring Julia Garner as Delvey herself. Delvey has been on house arrest since October 2022, following a two-year stint in prison for grand larceny and other financial crimes. She is often jokingly referred to as a “fake heiress,” for the fact that she was positioning herself as an heiress while collecting funds, when she was, in fact, a regular person.
But don’t get it twisted, this is not her first New York Fashion Week. Last September New York Fashion Week, Delvey created a “pop-up PR agency” with Kelly Cutrone, fashion PR maven, who you may have remembered from being Lauren Conrad and and Whitney Port’s boss on The Hills and The City. This was, of course, when Delvey was still on house arrest. Delvey and Cutrone hosted a fashion show from the apartment’s rooftop. Page Six reports that Delvey is currently staying in Cutrone’s house upstate. As for what she’s cooking up this New York Fashion Week, we’re not sure exactly what she’s up to, but we suspect it’ll be just as legendary because, love her or hate her, that’s all Anna Delvey knows how to do.
