Honestly, I feel like I’m always just waiting around for an outfit to delight me like this glitzy look that Jenny Slate wore most recently to promote the new Colleen Hoover adaptation, It Ends With Us. The pictures really do not do it justice, but lucky for us, Jenny posted a video to her Instagram.
The look is a two piece set, a top and a skirt, from Dauphinette, a New York City fashion brand that the cool girl on your Instagram probably follows. They’re known for their absurdist take on style, often making their garments out of flower petals, ties, matchbooks, and other found objects. This time, as seen on Slate, it’s an organza silk tank top and skirt with shimmery silver safety pins and vintage glass beads all over. At first glance, it looks like glittery or embroidery or sequins, but it’s actually all glass, metal, and silk. Sometimes the most elegant looks are simple.
Jenny stars in the movie as Allysa Kincaid, alongside Blake Lively who plays the main character Lily Bloom and Justin Baldoni who plays Ryle Kincaid. Jenny Slate and Blake Lively play best friends in the movie, and their chemistry seems to follow them off-screen. “I deeply fell in love with her,” Slate told Entertainment Tonight. “Obviously, I have admired Blake for so long… [she’s] so fresh, so detail-oriented, so prepared — knowing, like, what page on the script things occurred on. She’d be like, ‘Well, I see that, but she doesn’t really find this out until page 96.’”
