Suki Waterhouse is glowing—literally and figuratively. After starring in the Emmy-nominated Daisy Jones & the Six last spring, the British triple-threat has been spotted absolutely everywhere. And since confirming her pregnancy in November, she’s even more out-and-about, shining a little brighter every time.
At the 2024 Emmy Awards on Monday, January 15, Waterhouse appeared in what might be her greatest look yet, maternity or otherwise. Wearing a backless red Valentino gown (she had to get it redesigned to fit her growing bump), she showed off tousled hair, glowing skin, and major lashes courtesy of hormones and celebrity makeup artist Benjamin Puckey. While the glow was all hers, we do have some info on the products and artistry behind the look.

"For Suki’s look tonight, I drew inspiration from her radiant pregnancy glow and the stunning red dress she adorned. My aim was to craft a glamorous and elevated appearance while preserving Suki’s carefree essence," Puckey tells Byrdie. "Alongside a blurred pink lip, my focus was on creating feathery lashes to achieve an elegantly lifted effect on the eyes."

To make it happen, the makeup artist utilized one of his go-tos: a strip lash. KISS The New Natural Lashes ($13) in Pearl Earring, to be more specific.
“I appreciate how it elongates and lifts the eyes, creating a cat-like effect,” shares Puckey. “I apply the strip lash using KISS Lash Couture Super Strong Strip Lash Adhesive ($6) in ‘Clear.’ I brush the glue on the strip of the lash and wait 30 seconds before placing it right against the natural lash. After the lash is in place, I apply a thin coat of mascara to blend the strip lash with the natural lash.”

While Waterhouse always looks glam, she’s never too “done”—a difficult balance to strike. On one hand, there was her dress-matching red Chanel manicure (the work of nail artist Betina Goldstein). On the other, her messy blonde blowout by Jennifer Yepez. And then there’s that expertly blended out pink lip. Every bit of her look was once again giving put together but not too put together—a better word: cool.
"There’s an edge of rock and roll about Suki that makes every look feel cool and effortless. Suki has a beautiful free spirit that shines through and makes every ensemble uniquely her own," Puckey shares. "Balancing glamour without appearing overly polished, she effortlessly blends chic elements with a touch of rebellious charm, capturing the essence of a carefree rock and roll spirit in her style."
