“Vogue covergirl Sabrina Carpenter” is a phrase we always knew we’d hear eventually, but it’s fun that it’s officially out there.
On February 11, our favorite Polly Pocket pop star shared her new, baby-blue, Steven Meisel-shot cover for the magazine’s March issue via Instagram. The whole thing is giving Marilyn Monroe. But that white-blonde hair? So Madonna. Madonna as Marilyn, if you will. And in her own “Vogue” music video.
Sabrina Carpenter's Vintage Curls
Obviously, we’re used to seeing Carpenter with big, bouncy curls and a vintage flair—but this is something new. In the comments of her post, fans mentioned that they hadn’t realized it was the Grammy winner until they saw who’d posted the images.

The ‘do was the work of the legendary hairstylist Guido Palau, who—like Madonna—is most often referred to by one name only. For the shoot, Carpenter’s normally warm blonde hair was colored a stark white shade by Lena Ott at Suite Caroline Salon and worked into a bouncy, retro curled bob. It looked exactly like the hair look the Queen of Pop wore to the 1991 Oscars when she herself channeled Marilyn in a beaded white gown.
(Last September, Carpenter wore the exact same dress to the VMAs, so we know the look has been on her mood board for a while.)

Sabrina Carpenter's Cover Girl Makeup
While the hair could be construed as Marilyn, the makeup was all Madonna. Dame Pat McGrath was in charge of the look, and naturally utilized a full kit of her own products.
The lineup included the MatteTrance Lipstick in Fever Dream and PermaGel Ultra Lip Pencil in Structure, which she used to get that dramatic peachy copper pout—a slight differentiation from the baby angel looks Carpenter is known for.
Her background-matching blue eyes even featured a product that hasn’t been released yet. The soon-to-come Perma Precision Liquid Eyeliner in Xtreme Black was partly responsible for the winged eyeliner she wore to smize at the camera, alongside a matching, already beloved PermaGel Ultra Glide Eye Pencil and FetishEYES Mascara to lengthen her plush lashes.
The lesson here? Strike a pose, there's nothing to it! Especially when you, a star yourself, bear such a resemblance to another major icon.
