Billie Eilish is, by now, a Grammys veteran, along with her brother and producer Finneas O’Connell. She’s toting 7 nominations at today’s ceremony, adding to her overall Grammy nomination total up to 32. She’s won a humble 9, no worries. Eilish came to the 2025 Grammys wearing a look from Prada that definitely grabs attention to say the least.
She had on a goofy little sailor school boy hat that doesn’t quite give sailor or school boy. Then she’s got these goofy little glasses that have been trending all over the place. And the actual garments are actually quite simple. It’s a casual black suit with a white shirt and black shoes.
Like it’s one of those things that you don’t quite understand at first. You’re having a strong reaction, but you’re not sure if it’s good or bad, and then you kind of just submit to the fact that it’s actually quite interesting, and rather than good or bad, it’s more of an exercise in consuming new things. It’s simple, and yet it’s hard to say what it’s similar to or what it’s referencing. These days everything in fashion is a reference to something else or homage to something else or a revival of a bygone era. So moments in fashion like this are actually very fulfilling and worth writing about even if it is just a simple black suit.
