Greetings, friends! I’m wrapping up the season with one last try-on haul, and it’s a mix of winter fashion finds I’m loving right now. From snow boots to sweaters, I’ve got everything you need to stay warm and stylish all season long.
As usual, I will provide measurements and fabric content on each item when I can find it, and I’ll share whether I plan to keep it or not. Just remember, even when I decide not to keep something, it doesn’t mean it isn’t worth checking out. I just may not need it, or it may not work for my body type or lifestyle.
Cold Weather Style: Cozy Layers, Chic Boots, and Timeless Winter Staples
SIZING NOTES: I’m 5’5″ and I usually wear a small or medium in tops and dresses, a 29 or 30 in jeans and pants, and a size 8 shoe. Gifted items are indicated by c/o; everything else I purchased myself.
Quince Scarf Coat
at Quince (S) // MOTHER Dazzler (29) // Paige booties (8)
DETAILS: Made from a substantial and structured wool-blend felt, this jacket is just what your wardrobe has been waiting for. The attached scarf and delicate embroidery give it a bespoke, artisanal feel while the oversized fit gives warmth and comfort you can really wrap up in.
- Crafted from 100% merino wool
- Attached scarf
- Patch pockets at waist
I’ve been wanting to add a scarf coat to my winter wardrobe, and this Quince option seemed like a good one to try. It’s hard to see the details on the black, though. I encourage you to click through to their website and see the other color options.
I like this part of their description; I feel like it really captures the look and feel of this coat: The attached scarf and delicate embroidery give it a bespoke, artisanal feel…
The fit of the size small is perfect for me, and it’s definitely a nice quality. While the other colors have a contrasting trim that makes them stand out from the crowd, I think I prefer the black with the tone on tone stitching. It goes back to the “understated” part of my 3 style guideposts (modern, polished, understated) and feels more authentic.
Here’s how it looks unbuttoned, with the scarf hanging in the front…
VERDICT: Keeping! I can’t wait to wear this fun coat. I feel like it perfectly captures that modern yet classic style that I love.
KUT from the Kloth Kelsey Wide Hem in Defend
at Evereve (6) // Thea Stripe Sweater (S) // adidas Spezial (8)
DETAILS: Wide hems with side seam detailing define these versatile jeans by KUT from the Kloth, featuring a gently flared leg, ankle-length inseam, and soft stretch denim.
- 10 1/4″ Front Rise; 27 1/4″ Inseam; 18″ Leg Opening
- 74% Cotton, 18% Lyocell, 6% Polyester, 2% Spandex Denim
- Machine Wash
I placed an Evereve order last week, and I thought these jeans are kind of fun and different, but when they arrived, I didn’t care for the wash. It looks too acid washed for my taste. Plus, they have kind of a rough feel to them. They also run big; the size 6 is plenty roomy, and no size 6 should be roomy on me these days.
I don’t remember what I was envisioning with them, but I don’t love this length with sneakers. I tried flats, just for kicks and giggles, but I’m not loving this either.
So then it was back to boots. I guess this works, but I don’t love these jeans.
VERDICT: I’ll be returning these.
MOTHER The Hiker Hover Straight Leg Jeans (Penny For Your Thoughts)
at Nordstrom & Bloomies (30) // Faherty henley (M) // adidas Spezial (8)
DETAILS: Cleanly styled for a casual-cool look, these low-stretch denim jeans are made in Los Angeles with classic straight legs and a versatile faded-blue wash.—Nordstrom
- 29″ inseam; 14″ leg opening; 11″ front rise
- Button fly
- 97% cotton, 2% polyester, 1% elastane
- Machine wash, dry flat
- Made in the USA.
I tried a similar pair of these a few weeks ago, and one of you suggested I try this wash. It still doesn’t quite cut it for me. I would like them better if they were a little longer, I think, and I don’t care for the slouchy rear view.
VERDICT: I returned these, but if you like the look, I wouldn’t rule them out. I think they would fit closer to the leg on ladies with a more athletic build.
MOTHER The Hustler Roller Sneak High Rise Jeans in Not Today Satan
at Bloomingdale’s and Anthro (29) (petite option) // Vince turtleneck (M) (also at Neiman’s) // similar Marc Fisher booties (8)
DETAILS: 70s-inspired wide leg jeans with a high rise, 32-inch inseam and a clean hem. Designed in a stretch cotton blend, Not Today Satan is a black wash with whiskering, fading and tonal hardware.—Mother Denim
- 11″ Rise; 32″ Inseam; 24.5″ Leg Opening
- 78% cotton; 16% modal; 4% polyester; 2% elastane
- Machine wash
- Made in Los Angeles.
I was so excited when I saw these and compared the measurements to find they’re almost the same as my MOTHER The Hustler Roller Skimp. I would love to have a pair of black wash wide leg jeans that I really love. (The FRAME Le Slim Palazzo Jeans haven’t turned out to be the unicorn I was hoping for, as we discussed in my Worst Purchases post.)
Unfortunately, they are an inch longer than The Hustler Roller Skimp, so I either have to wear them with my highest heels (as I did here) or have them hemmed. I don’t mind hemming them if I have to, but I’m not sure how I feel about the fading on the rear end. Would that be a deal breaker for you?
Here’s how they look styled with a camel sweater and leather bomber, which is an outfit combination I love and wear often.
VERDICT: Debating. For this price (although I did manage to snag mine on sale) I need to love them. I wish they didn’t have that fading on the rear.
Okay, moving on to boots!
PAIGE Annika Kitten Heel Bootie
at Nordstrom & $75 OFF at Bloomingdale’s (8) // Jenni Kayne sweater (S) // MOTHER Tomcat (30)
DETAILS: Add a touch of sophistication to any outfit with Annika. This kitten heel ankle boot is crafted from black stretch leather that hugs the leg for a sleek silhouette. Annika is designed with a slightly elongated, snipped square toe shape for a tailored look, a black leather stacked underslung heel, and a tonal inside zipper for easy on and off.—Paige.com
- 1 3/4″ heel
- Side zip closure
- Leather upper, lining and sole
Square toe boots are having a moment this winter (see my 2025 Winter Fashion Trends Report)—but not the chunky square toe as much as the slender squared-off toe like the ones I’m wearing here.
PAIGE makes really nice footwear, so I was excited to see these. They’re made of a super soft and supple leather, and the lining and sole is leather, too. I also love how this pair also has a kitten heel, another footwear trend this season. I don’t love them with the ankle length jeans, but those photos show the boots better.
Here how they look with the MOTHER Weekender flares… I love this combo! I actually wore it out to dinner last night with a different sweater.
VERDICT: Keeping! These are gorgeous, and very comfortable and right on trend. They will be a nice way to dress up my denim this winter, while also keeping my feet warm and dry. I got mine on sale for under $300, but they’re currently part of the Bloomingdale’s “Take $25 off every $100 you spend” on select items promo, which gives you $75 off. Unfortunately, sizes are pretty picked over there.
FIT TIP: If you have wider feet, you may want to size up in these. They fit very snug through the ankle.
Vince Silvana Bootie
at Nordstrom & $75 OFF at Bloomingdale’s (8) // Jenni Kayne sweater (S) // MOTHER Weekender (29)
DETAILS: A slender square toe and demi block heel balance a versatile bootie fashioned with a side zipper for easy entry.
- 1 3/4″ heel
- 5 1/4″ shaft
- Side zip closure
- Cushioned footbed
- Leather upper, lining and sole
This is another pair I ordered at the same time, when they were on sale at Bloomingdale’s a couple weeks ago. These are similar to the PAIGE, but not nearly as fitted through the ankle, which may appeal to those with wider feet. They also have a leather lining and sole, but they aren’t as soft and supple as the PAIGE pair. I also noticed that they aren’t nearly as buttery soft as my Vince Hilda from last season that I love.
I do like the snipped square toe on this Silvana, and they have a slightly more structured look to them, but I don’t really need them. I only really ordered these to compare, knowing that I don’t need to replace the Hilda, and I wanted to show them to you all as an option if you’re looking for a square toe. You can see them a little better with these straight ankle jeans…
VERDICT: These are gorgeous, high quality boots in a current silhouette, yet with classic lines so you can certainly keep them for years. Since I have the Vince Hilda, I decided to keep the PAIGE Annika and return the Vince Silvana. I don’t really need the PAIGE pair either, but at least kitten heel differentiates those a bit.
Marc Fisher Iggy Kitten Heel Bootie
25% off at Nordstrom // MOTHER Weekender (39) // Vince sweater (M)
DETAILS: A kitten heel provides a perfectly poised finish for a versatile pointy-toe bootie shaped from smooth leather.
- 2″ heel
- 6 1/4″ shaft
- Side zip closure
- Leather upper/synthetic lining and sole
This is another option with a kitten heel and a super pointy toe. I have been linking to these since my Marc Fisher Kolton Kitten Heel Bootie sold out. These are a nice quality, although not as nice as the Vince and PAIGE pairs. The higher shaft is nice, if you like to wear cropped styles, but it is a little stiff. I would need to wear socks with them, so they don’t irritate my calves.
VERDICT: I don’t need these, so I returned them. Still, a great option for those who want a kitten heel bootie but prefer a pointed toe.
Jeffrey Campbell Ichabod Square Toe Bootie
at Nordstrom (8.5) // MOTHER Dazzler (29) // Jenni Kayne Flynn (S) – 20% off!
DETAILS: Sleek and streamlined, this square-toe bootie made of faux leather and set on a low, stacked heel is sure to be go-to this season.
- 1″ angled block heel
- 5.5″ Shaft, 9″ Leg Opening
- Leather upper and lining, synthetic sole
Now these are really fun! (The Nordstrom website has incorrect information, but that is where they have the best inventory. I confirmed on the Jeffrey Campbell website that they are indeed real leather, and Bloomingdale’s also lists them that way.)
I think the streamlined square toe and 1″ angled block heel are a nice combination, if you’re looking for flat boots. (At least, I consider a 1″ heel a flat boot.) These are also a nice quality leather, very soft and comfortable.
VERDICT: I may keep these; I’m going to hold onto them for now and see if I reach for them. With my rag & bone Walker Chelsea Boots, I probably don’t need them, but I wear black boots so often, it may be fun to have a different style of casual ones. Fit tip: I had to size up half.
Sorel Out N About IV Chillz Waterproof Duck Boot in Omega Taupe/ Black
at Nordstrom and Zappos (8.5) // MOTHER Dazzler (29) // Jenni Kayne Flynn (S) – 20% off!
DETAILS: Rain and snow won’t slow your steps in this waterproof duck boot featuring warm insulation and a high-traction sole for slippery surfaces.
- Waterproof: protects against rain, puddles and slush to keep feet dry in wet conditions
- 6″ shaft
- Lace-up style
- Cushioned footbed
- 100g insulation
- Leather upper/polyester faux-shearling lining/rubber sole
I love my UGG Adirondack boots, but I saw these and thought I should give them a try. Sometimes the Adirondack feels like a lot of boot, and this pair might be one I could wear more. They run small; these are the 8, and I had to return and re-order the 8.5. I also ordered these and these to try. I think the sneaker boot could be more what I’m looking for, but if you need a waterproof snow boot, these are really cute, comfortable, and lightweight.
VERDICT: I’m waiting to get the other styles, and then I’ll decide which ones to keep.
Okay, that’s it for boots! I’ve also got a bunch of sweaters to show you…
J.Crew Turtleneck Sweater in Supersoft Yarn
at J. Crew (S) // MOTHER Weekender (29) // Vince Silvana (8)
DETAILS: This easy silhouette has ribbed trim details at the cuffs, shoulders and hem and comes with an extra layer of coziness at the neck. Plus, it’s crafted from a magical mixture of yarns that makes it supersoft (hence the name).
- 56% polyamide; 30% wool; 10% alpaca; 4% elastane.
- Hand wash.
I don’t know WHAT is up with these J.Crew sweaters. I was so excited to try them, not realizing how ridiculously long and oversized they are. I mean, I was hoping they would be slouchy, but this is a whole other level. It’s a shame because the colors are really pretty.
VERDICT: Returning.
Relaxed Turtleneck Sweater in Donegal Wool Blend in Berry Shake
at J. Crew (S) // MOTHER Weekender (29) // Vince Silvana (8)
DETAILS: This one comes in a subtly oversized fit that’s super-cozy and is crafted from a soft wool blend with flecks of tonal thread throughout for a donegal effect. Plus, this style contains wool from certified farms who take a responsible approach to managing their land and caring for their sheep.
- 65% wool/30% recycled polyamide/5% alpaca.
- Hand wash.
This one was no better as far as fit is concerned, and it’s also kind of scratchy.
VERDICT: Returned them both.
Thea Crew Pullover
at Evereve (M) // MOTHER Weekender Wanted (29) // Vince Silvana (8)
DETAILS: Top off your sweater-weather wardrobe with the Thea pullover by EVEREVE. Perfect for dressing up or down, this stylish striped sweater features a crewneck silhouette, raglan sleeves, and ribbed trim at the collar, cuffs, and hem.
- Length from Shoulder to Hem: 23 1/2″
- Material: 61% Polyester, 26% Nylon, 13% Acrylic Knit
- Care: Hand Wash, Wash Cold, Dry Flat
This sweater from Evereve is kind of cute. I like the color palette, and you know I’m always a fan of a raglan sleeve. It has a fairly classic fit. I’m wearing the medium here, but the small came in a few days later, and I like it much better.
small vs. medium
I especially love how it looks with my black quilted vest. The vest helps break up the bold green and tone it down some, plus a layering piece always makes for a more interesting outfit. Supposedly those stripes are navy, but I don’t think you can really tell. They look black to me.
VERDICT: Keeping the size small.
Faherty Jackson Mock Neck Cotton Blend Rib Sweater in Huckleberry Heather
at Nordstrom (S) // MOTHER Dazzler // Vince Silvana (8)
DETAILS: Knit in an itch-free cotton blend, this mock-neck sweater is luxuriously cozy and easy to wear casual or elevated.
- 23 1/2″ length
- 53% cotton, 23% polyester, 20% nylon, 4% elastane
- Hand wash, dry flat
This is more of a classic piece, and I like how it accentuates my waistline. It’s ribbed and fits close to the body, but not super skin-tight. Again, yay for raglan sleeves, and I love the height of the mock neck. (It’s not too tall or too snug.) I have a short neck, so shorter mock necks like this one tend to look better on me than the taller ones, or the thick rolled-over kind.
In my perfect world, this sweater would be an inch shorter, and it isn’t as cozy and soft as the sweaters I typically wear in the winter, but it could be a nice option to have. It’s a good one for those of you who can’t wear wool.
This sweater is rather plain on its own, but it looks really nice layered under coats and jackets. I like how it contrasts with my grey car coat, and it also looks nice with my Vince teddy coat since they almost match.
VERDICT: I’m going to hold onto this one with the tags on for now and see if I reach for it. FYI, it also comes in oatmeal and charcoal.
Rails Miranda Crewneck Cashmere & Silk Sweater
35% off at Nordstrom (S) // MOTHER Dazzler (29) // Paige booties (8)
DETAILS: Elevate sweater season with this classic crewneck pullover framed by ribbed trim and knit from a luxuriously soft blend of cashmere and silk.
- 23″ length
- 75% cashmere, 25% silk
- Dry clean
This is a beautiful knit, and I got it on sale, but I don’t love the fit. The crewneck is too high and looks like it’s choking me, and the drop shoulder adds visual weight.
VERDICT: Returned it.
Michael Stars Gigi Brushed Pullover
at Evereve (S) // MOTHER Weekender (30) // Veronica Beard Lada Chelsea Boots (8.5)
DETAILS: Finished in soft, brushed knit fabric, the Gigi pullover by Michael Stars features a crewneck silhouette, relaxed fit, and rib knit detailing at the sides, cuffs, and hem. It’s perfect for everyday wear with your favorite jeans and cargo pants.
- Length from Shoulder to Hem: 22 1/2″
- 47% Polyester, 47% Rayon, 6% Spandex Jersey
- Hand Wash, Dry Flat, Wash Inside Out
This casual pullover looked much more appealing on the website. The color does nothing for me, and it’s overall just meh. It is very comfy, though, I will say that!
VERDICT: Returned it.
Rowan Puffer Vest
at Evereve (S) // Michael Stars pullover (S) // MOTHER Weekender (30)
DETAILS: Finished in soft faux leather, this EVEREVE puffer vest will be your new favorite layer, featuring a stand collar, side pockets, and front zipper and snap closures.
- Length from Shoulder to Hem: 22″
- 100% Polyurethane Faux Leather with 100% Polyester Base; Fill: 100% Polyester
- Hand Wash, Wash Cold, Dry Flat, Do Not Bleach, Spot Clean
I do, however, love this vest! I should have added vests to my 2025 Winter Fashion Trends Report. They’re coming in strong right now, and in all fabrics. (I also got that sherpa hooded vest when it was a Daily Deal last week, and it’s fun too! Unfortunately, it sold out that day, but I’m hoping they bring it back.) The vegan leather adds a subtle edgy touch to a look, which of course I like, and it runs true to size.
VERDICT: Keeping!
Halogen Contrast Trim Sweater in Antique White/ Rich Black
at Nordstrom (M) // KUT from the Kloth Ana (6) // Marc Fisher booties (8)
DETAILS: Sharp contrast trim highlights the V-neckline and split cuffs of this fresh and modern sweater.
- 22″ length
- 100% rayon
- Hand wash, dry flat
You may remember I shared this in a try-on haul a few weeks back, and I accidentally tried it on backwards. I have no idea how I could have done that! It has a very obvious tag in the back. It was also too small, so I re-ordered this medium, and it fits much better, although it’s quite thin, so I could still use some smoothing shapewear. I like the contrast trim and split cuffs.
VERDICT: I’m keeping this one. It’s a little dressier than most of my sweaters, which would be nice to have for church and maybe dinners out and things like that.
LOFT Mock Neck Cable Sweater in Lavender Mist Melange
50% off at LOFT (M) // MOTHER Weekender (30) // Veronica Beard Lada Chelsea Boots (8.5)
DETAILS: Styled with a sleek mock neck and chic wide sleeves, this soft cable-knit sweater is a modern must for every day. Long sleeves.
- Abbreviated – hits at natural waist
- 22 1/2″ long
- 23% Acrylic; 40% Recycled Acrylic; 34% Nylon; 3% Wool
- Machine Washable
This is another sweater I’ve showed before that I re-ordered in a larger size. I really thought I’d like it in the medium, but it still doesn’t quite cut it. I don’t like how it fits through the middle; I feel like it just looks frumpy, for some reason.
It’s a great length, though, and I love the flared sleeves, and the color is pretty. I know I won’t reach for it, though, so I sent it back.
Gap Factory Oversized Cable-Knit Mockneck Sweater
at Gap Factory (S) // High Rise Soft Vintage Slim Jeans (29) // Veja Esplars (39)
DETAILS: Oversized silhouette that hits below the hip. Dropped shoulder, long sleeves with ribbed cuffs. Ribbed mockneck.
- 75% Acrylic, 22% Polyester, 3% Elastane
- Machine wash.
Okay, you probably saw this in my post with Gap Factory earlier this week, but I thought I’d go ahead and include it since I have these pictures.
This sweater comes in tons of colors, and it’s a really pretty knit. I love the cable design, and it’s the perfect length. (I’ll guess it’s in that 22-23″ range.) I feel like it’s more flattering than the LOFT one, and it’s also a good one for those who can’t wear wool.
VERDICT: I’m keeping this one. It should also look really nice with my grey flares.
LOFT Cable Mock Neck Mini Sweater Dress
50% off at LOFT (M) // Dolce Vita Raj Boots (8)
DETAILS: Styled with a sleek mock neck and chic wide sleeves, this soft cable-knit sweater dress is a modern must for every day. Long sleeves.
- Fit: Shift – fits straight and relaxed
- 35″ from shoulder to hem
- 23% Acrylic; 40% Recycled Acrylic; 34% Nylon; 3% Wool
- Machine Washable
And I also re-ordered this dress in a larger size, and I like it much better. I didn’t take the time to try it on with black tights, but that’s how I would wear it.
VERDICT: Keeping. I think this will come in handy.
Alrighty! Now for some activewear, and then I have a few pieces from Gap Factory, and then I’m done1
Athleta In Motion Seamless Tee in Black
at Athleta (M) // Salutation Stash High Rise Legging (M)

- FAVE: Open hole stitchwork for breathability
- Grippers at inner hem to prevent it riding up

- 100% Recycled Nylon
- Body length in size medium: Regular: 24″
I liked this so much in the white that I also ordered it in the black when it was on sale. I love that it has grippers to hold it in place, and it’s not super skin tight but still sits close to the body and layers easily under sweatshirts and jackets. The pink color is on sale, but the others are back to full price.
VERDICT: Keeping!

I have these in black, and I like them so much, I ordered this Spiced Cabernet during the 50% off sale. I love this color, and these leggings are so comfy and flattering. The Clover Berry (a gorgeous red) is currently 40% off.
VERDICT: Keeping
Gap Factory High Rise Soft Vintage Slim Jeans
at Gap Factory (29) // Cable Mock Neck (S) // Veja Esplars (39)
DETAILS: High waisted. Fitted through the hip and thigh. Hits at the ankle. Black wash with fading and whiskering.
- Inseam: 28″
- 64% Cotton, 21% Polyester, 5% Cotton Recycled, 5% Elasterell, 3% Polyester, 2% Elastane.
- Machine wash.
I think these jeans are an amazing value for the price point. They aren’t as soft and comfortable as Mother and AG, but the wash looks really good, and they have a nice fit.
VERDICT: I kept these, but I don’t find myself reaching for them because I have the AG Mari in a similar wash, and they’re softer and more comfortable to me. I do like this shorter length, though, and I feel like I may want to wear them at some point.
Gap Factory Relaxed Fleece Half-Zip Sweatshirt
at Gap Factory (M) // MOTHER Dazzler (29) // old P448 sneakers
DETAILS: Oversized silhouette that hits below the hip. Dropped shoulder, long sleeves with banded cuffs. Stand collar, quarter-zip front.
- Soft, comfy fleece.
- 77% Cotton, 23% Polyester.
- Machine wash cold. Tumble dry low.
I showed this in the Gap Factory sponsored post with the black jeans above, but I really like how it looks with my MOTHER Dazzlers and P448 sneakers. It’s really soft and comfortable, perfect for throwing on to work from home or run errands, and the half zip is right on trend.
VERDICT: I kept this one too.
Gap Factory Shine One-Shoulder Top
at Gap Factory (M) // Corduroy Flares (29)
DETAILS: Straight, easy fit that hits at the hip. One-shoulder neckline. Allover shine.
- 77% Nylon, 19% Metallic, 4% Elastane.
- Machine wash cold. Tumble dry low.
I think this top is so fun for New Year’s Eve or other festive holiday events. The asymmetrical neckline is an incoming trend this year, and the metallic fabric is really cool. I paired it with corduroy flares and pointy toe boots, but I think mesh slingbacks would be cute with this too.
VERDICT: I did not keep this because I don’t have any fancy parties this year, and it’s not very forgiving thru the midsection, but I think it’s fun if you need an inexpensive and festive top!
