I get a lot of requests for stylish budget-friendly jeans, and the Gap Factory Friends & Family Sale is the best time to shop for quality, stylish denim at great prices.
Whether you want to try some of the newer wide leg styles and flares, or you prefer the more traditional straight cuts and skinnies, they pretty much have something for everyone. They even have some great denim skirt options right now. In fact, let’s start there!
Denim Midi Pencil Skirt (29) // Ribbed Crewneck T-Shirt (M) // Vegan Leather Belt (M)
This classic denim pencil skirt with a modest front slit has a nice even light wash, and the just-below-the-knee length makes it look modern and slightly retro at the same time. It also comes in a mid indigo wash, if you prefer.
The fabric has just enough stretch to be comfortable, yet maintain the structure of traditional denim, and it runs true to size. I have my usual size 29.
I paired this denim skirt with a navy and white stripe ribbed crewneck t-shirt that’s soft and stretchy and highly versatile. You can wear it alone, or as a base layer, and it comes in tons of solid and stripe color ways. It has more of a body-con fit, so I sized up to a medium for a little extra wiggle room.
With the addition of brown vegan leather belt and coordinating accessories, this simple look can take you just about anywhere in the summer months – from casual errands to coffee dates, your kids’ (or grandkids’) school events, and more. You can always throw on a classic trench or linen blazer if you need a top layer.
Staying with the navy and white theme, this next outfit features a pair of high rise flares in a versatile light wash with the trendy front patch pockets.
Unfortunately, these are selling out. They’ve carried this style for a while (I had the black pair last winter) so I’m hoping they bring them out in a new wash for spring. They’re such flattering jeans… legs for days!
High Rise ’70s Flare Jeans (29) // Sweater Jacket (S) // Ribbed Crewneck T-Shirt (M) // Vegan Leather Belt (M)
I topped them off with the same ribbed crewneck t-shirt in the solid white layered under a stripe sweater jacket. I added the brown belt again to define the waist, and for another point of interest.
This sweater gives a nod to the lady jacket, which is very much on trend right now, but it’s made from a comfortable soft cotton knit. I love the gold buttons for dressing up this casual look.
These mid-rise kick fit jeans are another solid denim choice; in fact, this is my favorite style for spring/summer because they look so good with sandals. This is the medium wash, and the light wash has a fun released hem.
Once again, I went with that ribbed crewneck t-shirt, this time in the solid black. I’m not normally one to buy the same top in multiple colors, but this is such a versatile piece, I couldn’t resist. I added a black belt and bookended the look with black sandals.
